Meet the editorial board

Chair - Secretary - Team Yearbook
Tobias Arends
As Landscape Architecture bachelor graduate and beginning landscape designer I’ve developed a passion for small scale design. With TOPOS I strive to broaden this passion for design. Previously with work on the website, but more recently also on the layout of our recurring yearbook. Alongside that, I regularly write articles and columns, mostly with a focus on the ‘frayed edges’ and bottom-up approaches within the workfield.

Treasurer - Secretary
Ian Witte
Greetings! Ever since the revival of TOPOS in 2022, I have been active as an editorial board member in various capacities. By now, I have graduated with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and am wrapping up my final months with the editorial team. What the future holds remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that I will be taking on the role of regular columnist, allowing me to stay connected to TOPOS after all. Enjoy the read!

Commissioner of External Affairs
Jens den Boer
Hello! My name is Jens den Boer, and I am currently in my first year of the Master’s program in International Land and Water Management. As a member of TOPOS, I hope to hone my writing skills and develop a deeper understanding of the fields of spatial planning and landscape architecture. Within TOPOS, I serve as the Commissioner of External Affairs, which means I maintain contact with our sponsors and any other external parties.

Editor - Team Yearbook

As a third-year landscape architecture student with a background in architecture, I am fascinated by the sheer breadth and interdisciplinarity of the spatial environment. Even as a child, I traveled all over the country to blog about events for Kidsweek and YouTech. TOPOS is the perfect way to combine these hobbies, and I now love writing about festivals, exhibitions, and books.

Editor
Karsten van Dijk
Hello readers, I am Karsten van Dijk. First year student landscape architecture and planning. As an aspiring spatial planner I am very interested in the relationships between land use and public transport networks. Topos is for me a way to develop my personal skills and gain knowledge. But also to share new insights.

As a student of the Masters Landscape Architecture I am eager about discovering scientific, cultural and socio-economic implications in out surrounding and applying this knowledge to functional & climate-adaptive designs. As a member of TOPOS, I stay involved in themas I feel professionally connected to and I contribute to the blog by writing articles or doing graphic design & art pages. Thinking responsibly about the future of landscapes brings me enthusiasm and a real-life design mission!

Editor - Media Manager
Lucas Schimmel
As a graduate spatial planner, I have always had an interest in the field of landscape architecture. I enjoy working in the areas of mobility and regional development, topics I like to read about and might also write about in the future. For now, I am operating behind the scenes, focusing mainly on maintaining and (updating) the website

Editor - Team Yearbook
Geert Walinga
Having extended my bachelor’s degree with two minors, I am now applying my love of knowledge and design at TOPOS. As a first-year Master’s student in Landscape Architecture, I like to focus on the urban environment and the smaller scale. I enjoy writing pieces in which I can think aloud about a theme and organise my thoughts, broadly yet critically, on paper. It is, of course, also the ideal place to express my passion for the Dutch language. Next to my duties as chair, I am part of the yearbook design team as well.
