_DEMOCRACY & SPACE_ door Bart Steman Democracy is dead! Or is it? Democracy, as ancient as the Greeks, is probably one of the most contested concepts on our planet. In the upcoming months, TOPOS and the BuitelHucht will together work on a number of articles and events that aim to unravel the promises of democracy. We will focus on its impact on the landscape, on our living environment, on the political climate and on our lives. To start the thematic months, we will start with the claim that planners and landscape architects rule the world. In this series we will see if this claim is valid or not.

Erfgoed verbindt
_OVERIGE_ door Bart Steman Onlangs verscheen hier op TOPOS een artikel van Karim van Knippenberg over ‘erfgoed als vliegwiel voor dorpsontwikkeling’. Als vervolg op dat artikel volgde een workshop over dit onderwerp in het prachtige Kasteel die Keverberg in Kessel.

_COLUMN_ door Bart Steman De warmte ligt als een klamme deken over me heen. Het is een warmte die je ’s nachts naakt op bed laat liggen met je raam open, gewillig op zoek naar een zuchtje wind. Langzaamaan word ik onderdeel van de warmte. Nog wat drinken, nog wat water over m’n hoofd, en nog een paar slokken. Een ritueel dat zich nu al een uur herhaalt.

NGPS 2015: Turkey inside out
_OVERIGE_ door Frank Gorissen en Bart Steman Vrijdag 6 maart zijn wij met een kleine delegatie Wageningense studenten naar Utrecht gegaan om het Nationaal Geografisch Planologisch Symposium 2015 bij te wonen. De dag stond volledig in het teken van ‘Turkey Inside Out’. Turkije is een land waar we in Wageningen nooit mee bezig zijn maar dat wel zeer snel aan het ontwikkelen is, genoeg redenen voor een bezoek. Het was ook een goed moment om de verschillen tussen Nederlandse planning en geografie opleidingen te bestuderen.
